Protest to Burmese junta’s sham referendum
In front of the Burmese Embassy in Tokyo on the 10th of May, 2008, pro-democracy Burmese residents in Tokyo participated in the protest to the junta’s referendum which was to be held just a few days after Cyclone Nargis in which over 100,000 human lives were catastrophically lost.
We were protesting to the referendum because it was politically unfair and improper soon after the catastrophic loss.
It was a rainy day, but the protesters peacefully stood in the rain holding our placards for 2 hours.
In this picture, I was holding two pictures; the upper picture shows hungry children from the cyclone disaster asking for food, and the lower picture shows Daw Aung Suu Kyi.
I was very proud of participating in this protest and showing my sympathy for those hungry children and my loyalty to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
